DIAL-South is an Interest Group of CARL(California Academic & Research Libraries) Southern region.
The mission of DIAL-South is to advocate equality and diversity, primarily for racial/ethnic communities but also other diverse populations within the library profession and academic libraries.
DIAL-South holds business meetings and events that reflect in the following areas:
*the recruitment, retention, and advancement of under- represented people of color to the library profession;
*the sponsoring of educational efforts to heighten racial/ethnic sensitivity and diversity awareness, and
*to ensure that the association's organization, strategic plans, standards, programs, and activities reflect the interests or equity for all underserved populations in academic libraries.
