South Korean court has unjustly jailed two blameless Indian sailors -- Captain and Chief officer of Hebei Spirit. The Hebei Spirit is the same tanker that was safely at anchor when it was rammed by a Samsung Heavy Industries' barge a year ago, resulting into an oil spill. The Indian sailors were clearly not at fault. However, instead of penalizing Samsung, the South Korean government has slammed sentences on Indian sailors for releasing 11,000 tonnes of crude oil on to beaches. Shipping operators and seafarer unions have insisted the tanker crew were blameless. The Chief Officer, Chetan Syam, is a dear friend of mine and I would really appreciate if you spread the message against this injustice and help build support for the innocent sailors. Thanks!
