With news of the Red Sox offering $400K to the City of Boston to save the Boston Police Mounted Unit, we're asking as many people as possible to contact the Mayor's office, the Boston City Council members, and Boston Police Department to ask them to accept this offer and reinstate the mounted unit as soon as possible.

UPDATE: 02-July-2009
OK - the horses are out of the stables in Jamaica Plain and the Boston Police Mounted Unit has been disbanded. Now what?
There is a new Facebook group: "Friends of the Boston Police Mounted Unit" which we hope will serve as an open forum for the exchange of ideas on how to get our horses back to patrolling Boston streets. Feel free to share your (positive) ideas!
We hope you will continue to support this effort.

IMPORTANT:
ONE LAST DITCH EFFORT TO SAVE THE BOSTON POLICE MOUNTED UNIT: WE NEED PEOPLE TO ATTEND THE LAST CITY COUNCIL HEARING ON WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE VOTE THAT WILL SEND BOSTON'S HORSES AWAY AND END A 140 YEAR OLD TRADITION.
Councilor Flaherty has requested as many people as possible to attend the budget vote on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24th. We know it's last minute, but if you can't attend, please ask others to attend in your place. This is the very last chance we have to show our support for our mounted patrol.
The meeting will take at NOON at:

Boston, MA 02201-1020
It would help if we also call and email the Councilors one last time prior to the hearing. Please go to the online petition site for contact information.
