The MSU-Bozeman Cat Card System creates "Cat Card" ID cards which provide services and entitlement privileges for all MSU students, faculty, staff, gym users and affiliated MSU persons.

Card Issuance
Students, faculty and staff must have a Montana State University GID (generated Id) number before a CAT CARD can be issued. New and transfer undergraduate and graduate students will be billed for the first card on their student bill even if the graduate student has attended as an undergraduate. The cost of a CAT CARD is $15.00. University privileges are not available for students until all fees are paid or attendance is confirmed.

For visiting students, visiting faculty, university related and ACE students the sponsoring department must forward notification of employment to the CAT CARD office on the department letterhead. If the department is paying for the ID the notification must contain department billing information and contact name.

The CAT CARD office makes various campus badges. Contact the CAT CARD office for more information.

Fees
The cost of a new or replacement CAT CARD is $15.00. New or transfer undergraduate and graduate students are charged for the first ID card on the first student bill issued from University Business Services, others pay for the card at the CAT CARD office.

If a CAT CARD is lost or stolen the replacement charge is $15.00. If a CAT CARD becomes damaged and unusable and the not the fault of the card stock the replacement cost is $15.00. The CAT CARD Office is not responsible for damage resulting from abuse such as using the card to open doors, scrape windows, from carrying loosely in pockets or purse, from washing or drying, from human or animal bites are and other forms of abuse. The CAT CARD Office will determine if the card has been abused.

Lost Cards
Lost CAT CARD’s are returned to the CAT CARD Office, a notice will be put on the cardholders card account and the card can be picked up at the CAT CARD Office. A couple other good places to check for a lost card are the ASK US desk, Intramurals and the REC Center.

Lost cards can be reported to the CAT CARD Office our. Number is (406) 994-2273 Leave a message if after hours or report the card lost on line @ montana.edu/CAT CARD. It is the cardholder’s responsibility to report a card lost or stolen and the cardholder is responsible for card uses until the card the reported lost.

Photo Requirement and Storage
Montana State University CAT CARD requires a photo on every CAT CARD that is issued. These photos are controlled property of the CAT CARD Office.

Faculty may request student photos for class rosters for $1.00 per disk. With the request a name and ID number is needed as well as a departmental charge number.

A student may also request a copy of his/her photo for $1.00 which covers the cost of the disk.

Deposits, Refunds and University Withdrawals
The CAT CARD can be used as an on campus debit card at many on campus locations (see Where to Use your CAT CARD). Deposits can be made at the CAT CARD Office Rm 107 Strand Union Building, Hedges Complex cashiers or our web site ($5.00 minimum) @ montana.edu/catcard. CAT CARD accepts cash, checks and credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Discover).

CAT CARD is not a bank and does not refund money unless the student/employee is:

1.Withdrawing from school
2.It is end of the semester.
3.An employee is leaving MSU
Refunds over $25.00 are refunded from the State of Montana in a warrant form $25.00 or under is returned as cash from the CAT CARD Office. All refunds are processed at the CAT CARD Office.

CAT CARD funds will stay on accounts for two years after departing Montana State University.
