- Ohio State lost a legend on November 9th, 2007 as "Whitey" the Albino Squirrel and legend at Ohio State, was taken from us. Just as whitey was entertaining numerous students and tour groups on the south oval, a large hawk swooped down and grabbed Whitey, taking him away from all of us. Whitey will be remembered for his bizarre looks, his noble character, and his ability to always make a student smile. Ladies and Gentlemen, honor a hometown hero and your friend, Whitey.
