- Description:
- The Warwick Writing Programme has been an educational host for many distinguished writers, and a crucible of creative writing and creative reading in the Midlands of the UK.
The Programme is now in its twelfth year. It is based at the University of Warwick, England, and now has its own home - The Writers Room - in the Centre for Creativity and Performance in Teaching and Learning, Capital, which also has its own Facebook group.
Our teachers include Maureen Freely, Peter Blegvad, A.L. Kennedy, China Mieville, Jeremy Treglown, George Ttoouli and David Morley. Our honorary professors are Orhan Pamuk and Jonathan Coe. The writers David Dabydeen, Jonathan Bate, Paula Byrne, Fiona Sampson, Terrell McCraney, Adriano Shaplin and Rebecca Abrams also contribute to our teaching.
Many of our students requested we set up a group on Facebook – where most of you live! – to help students from different year groups get to know each other, and to put experienced alumni in touch with younger writers. Our community work may also benefit from this wider contact too.
Hundreds of new and young writers from across the globe have now come through the programme, and many are enjoying success in writing, publishing and the media. This group wants to hear your stories and to help trace old friends. It is also a good place to tell us about events.
