As of September '09, the new president will be Claire Zabaneh and the Vice will be Cesca Berlen. Keep an eye out for updates and relevant information.

We're in the process of organising a Major Event in Bar 42 at the moment. Most likely, it'll be on 14th May and will involve a pillow fight and pyjama party. If you'd like to get involved, let us know!

During our January meeting, we decided on a committee. Joel is now treasurer, and Kirat and Cesca are now General Secretaries... meaning that we all do a bit of everything!
We'll be holding a social event later on in the month in which we'll be venturing out to the Odeon in the city centre to see Valkyrie. Anyone is welcome; whether you're interested in Amnesty's work or not!
We've also changed the date of the meeting to Tuesdays, and the location is yet to be confirmed (as Bar 42 now shuts in the evening!)

----------------
Our next meeting is on Monday 1st December, at 7pm in Bar 42 (moving to 042 in Attwood building).
We will be making greeting cards for illegally held prisoners, as well as organising the committee. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to everyone who came over to chat at the Freshers' Fayre- it was good to meet so many new people, especially seeing as we now have a fairly long mailing list and at least 20 paid members. So we're officially a society! Yay!
Hopefully everyone had their questions answered, and managed to pick up a leaflet about the next meetings. Please bear in mind that these are only provisional dates- I have more events planned, but I couldn't fit everything onto the sheet!
Our next meeting will be on Monday 6th October at 7pm in Bar 42.
I hope to see you all there!

I'm in the process of updating everything, ready for the new term. So far, I've done the uni's society page (see the union website) and I've got a website up and running www.BCUAI.co.uk - it's a bit basic right now, but my web designer is busy designing as I type (I ask my brother one question about CSS, and he redesigns my entire site. Oh well)
Watch out for news about Freshers' Fayre. Hopefully, the uni will give me a date within the next month so I can start harassing you all properly! :-)

We had a meeting to decide on the focus for next term's campaign. We decided to look at the Burma campaign which is featured in this month's Amnesty magazine (which I have loads of if anyone wants one). There's also information about it on their website http://amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=11032
We'll be having another meeting in January, so I'll let people know when the date is set.
