- Dennys Ilic is best known for moody, soulful celebrity portraiture. Before beginning his career as photographer, he worked as a cinematographer, having shot many Australian short films and music videos then moving into features. After lensing the low budget horror film Reign in Darkness which garnered him an award from the Australian Society of Cinematographers he went on to shoot one of the first HD major motion pictures in Bollywood: 'Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!'
Dennys first gained notoriety with his portraits of Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003. From there he was enlisted by Warner Bros. Pictures to photograph Daniel Radcliffe. These photographs were commissioned for the international publicity to surround the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. On the eve of Daniel's 16th birthday Dennys created a series of 'coming of age' images that took the world by storm. The photographs showed Daniel as a versatile and amazingly handsome young man and appeared on magazine covers everywhere. Dennys went on to photograph Daniel for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as well as the Australian film December Boys and continues to work in the film, television and music industry.
Recently Dennys captured a range of intimate one-on-one portraits with actors such as Aaron Douglas, James Callis, Michael Hogan as well as director Michael Rymer and producer Ronald D. Moore on the set of Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined) during its highly anticipated finale.
Other recent projects include a series of portraits of hugely talented Actor Callum Rennie (see this pages profile picture) and Australian icon Sigrid Thornton as well as the massive London based shoot of Daniel Radcliffe for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
