OXFAM'S RESPONSE

Before the cyclone struck, around 1,000 volunteers from our Bangladeshi partner organisations helped to evacuate villagers.

We are currently co-ordinating and sharing information with the Bangladeshi government. Through our local partner organisations, we have started delivering aid in the worst affected southern districts of Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Barguna and Patuakhali. Part of our work includes giving cash in return for clean-up work - mobilising people to remove debris and clear out water points and sanitation facilities.

Our assessments show immediate needs are dry foods, shelter, clothes and water and sanitation facilities.
