Description:: Please join this group as a statement to facebook and promote it for others to join. I think facebook was always better than myspace, because it did not allow sexual advertisements. Facebook is figuring out a new policy. They have been allowing lots of ads with females dressed in very little and in suggestive ways. However, facebook has told us that many of these ads should not be on there and they want our help to let them know which ads are offensive. Let's help facebook keep their site clean! Let's not promote the degrading of women! I also find it highly offensive that facebook would allow kids under 18 to get on and then within a year of that change allow such images.

If you see an offensive ad, please email facebook (flyers@facebook.com). Give them specific examples of ads you find offensive - preferably with actual pictures of ads sent to them. Yes, facebook groups alone can't change things - but awareness and then emails to them can.

If you don't think groups help stop things I agree with you. Facebook groups alone won't change anything. But this group is used as a catalyst to send emails to facebook. And they DO respond to emails - especially a lot of them.

By the way, this group is not meant to be religious, or political, or be an attempt to make individuals not look at sexual images. It is simply a group to help keep facebook clean and safe for public viewing. This group is merely to help consumers tell the maker of a product (facebook) that we like a cleaner facebook.

This group was made before FB made the changes with rating ads as offensive. I'm glad they added that. Groups like this one made it happen. However, I rate ads as offensive all the time and they still show up over and over again. Does this process really work?

FACEBOOK says they want our help!!!
Below is an email from facebook telling us what to do to help them:
Sending us a screenshot of the ad is the most useful. In order to get a screen shot, please complete the following steps:

PC
1. Go to the page that is giving you problems
2. Hit the PrtSc button (upper right of your keyboard)
3. Open up a word processing or image program
4. Paste the screen shot into the program
5. Save the file
6. Attach the file in your response to this email

MAC
If you just press and hold these keys for a second, it will take a picture of the screen: Shift + Command + 3. It will save the file on the desktop.

We hope to help you resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Ad Content issues:
1. I am very thankful to the countless number of people who have commented about the ability to block ads with firefox. I hope people take that advice if they don't want to see these ads.

2. I have had extensive communication with Facebook (besides standard email responses). They have informed me that they sell advertising to ad companies - and the ad companies choose the ads - not facebook. However, there are regulations facebook gives the ad companies. If there is an ad that a person feels might go against facebook's regulations than facebook wants you to copy and send them the ad, so they can take action (if necessary) against that ad company that posted the ad. If you want to know what those regulations are that facebook has - feel free to email them and ask them.
