Philosophy for Children - P4C
'Philosophy for Children' on Facebook is a group for teachers, students and pupils who are interested and involved in the movement that created "Community of Inquiry" worldwide.
This educational movement first started in the early 1970s with the work of Matthew Lipman's "Harry Stottlemeier's Discovery", a philosophical novel for children. The Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children (IAPC) was formally in place at Montclair State College (now Montclair State University).
Ongoing studies on the significant improvements in the reading and critical thinking skills of middle school children who were involved in IAPC programs continue today. Materials worldwide are being produced, consisting of children's novels with accompanying teachers' workbooks for the entire K-12 curriculum.
Countries including Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, the South Americas and many European and Middle Eastern organizations exist - Network on Facebook and share your experiences!
