The purpose of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners.
In January 2003, The Public Relations Society of America granted the College of Charleston a chapter for the Public Relations Student Society of America. The College is one of just three schools in the state to be awarded a chapter to PRSSA.
The College of Charleston's PRSSA chapter has grown and developed rapidly. The club is active on campus through professional meetings, conferences, and events. In addition, PRSSA members gain valuable experience through planning and executing numerous activites and fundraising events. CofC PRSSA's signature event is Rockstock, a spring event that offers the Charleston community an evening of great music, tasty food, and fun beverages. Members of CofC PRSSA also receive numerous opportunities throughout the year to network with local and national PR professionals, which has proven valuable for student internships and mentoring situations.
In 2006, the C of C chapter recieved the prestigious Chapter Development Award from Champions for PRSSA.
