Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated ( NOTLD:R ), will be screening November 12-15th, 2009 as part of the Facebook Comic-Con.

On November 12th, NOTLD:R will be uploaded directly to this event page. Those attending, will be able to view the entire feature length project for free from the comfort and convenience of their own homes... before it's official release. This project will remain available until November 15th, at which time, it will be taken down thus ending the screening event.

(Note: It is recommended that anyone who has not seen the original 'Night of the Living Dead' watch it prior to seeing 'Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated'. )

Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated a video based art show. Artists from around the world were invited to select scenes from the original film and make them their own. With no restrictions on style, media or process the resulting works ranged from oil paintings to comic illustrations and sock puppets to digital animation. These workss were then curated into a visual track of artwork and set to the audio of George A. Romero's masterpiece, 'Night of the Living Dead'.

*Jomike Tejido’s paintings in this show weave into Alamat ng Bawang, a timeless Filipino tale of how garlic came to be. Having had four previous exhibitions mostly themed with abstract nature themes, JM Tejido’s renditions on hand-woven mats now include human figures in its dreamy landscapes that compose the illustrations for a picture book. The story, written by Segundo Matias Jr, has elements in traditional Filipino folklore such as the bahay kubo, forests, datus and townsfolk that aptly intertwine with JM Tejido’s distinct Filipino style.

The acrylic on treated hand-woven mats, sourced from a mat export company supplier to ensure its quality, has been JM Tejido’s signature style since 2000. His works have been exhibited in Paris , Singapore and Japan , where he has been a runner-up in the 16th Noma Concours Picture book illustrations (2007). He is a member and was the former president of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang InK), an organization for children’s book illustrators. He has illustrated over 30 children’s books since 2000, some of which he also authored, including Tagu-Taguan (Ilaw ng Tahanan books 2009), Dinosaur Pop-up (Adarna House 2005), an innovative book that teaches pop-up mechanisms. JM Tejido also created the Foldabots Toy Book series, a collection of cardboard robot toys. JM Tejido is a practising architect and lives with his wife, Haraya.

** Without further ado, I am glad to announce the winners of the character design contest. Let's start with the highest originality score. Taking together the different opinions of the jury members, the prize for best concept goes to the entry of Raymond Jacob. Raymond took the spirit of the contest to heart, came up with a character that puts a life-sized trait in a superhero context, and did so in a very natural way. Thinking a little longer on how to superpower his nephew might lift the idea even further, but the main concept is already there.
** The highest technical score goes to Xam!, by Ben Moss. The vintage look, the central, attention-grabbing display of the character and the choice to introduce the character via a cover page all worked very well. While the entry was also lauded at the conceptual level, the jury was most impressed by execution of the drawing.
** Finally, the prize for the best overall submission goes to Jason Dennis' Softener. Well-drawn, the character design was emphasized by showing the Softener in various perspectives. Dennis' not only took mundane aspects, but lifted them to a superhero context while keeping them intact, which was considered a playful way of interpreting the contest. One technical critique considered the use of a somewhat distracting background that obscures the character, but The Softener altogether makes for an interesting character for a comic book story.
