TORONTO - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers' Grey Cup dreams now rest upon the unproven right arm of Ryan Dinwiddie.

Keith Stokes' 81-yard punt return TD powered the Bombers to a stunning 19-9 win over the Toronto Argonauts in the East Division final Sunday. However, Winnipeg lost quarterback Kevin Glenn to a broken left arm early in the fourth quarter.

Glenn was injured tackling Toronto linebacker Kevin Eiben following a botched handoff to Bombers running back Charles Roberts. Glenn was in obvious pain on the sidelines and afterwards head coach Doug Berry outlined the extent of the injury to the CFL's passing leader and East Division finalist for the league's outstanding player award.

"We're certainly deeply sorry for this, but this is the game of football," said Berry. "Kevin has had a fantastic year for us, he got us here.

"It's a tough break," Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive lineman Gene Makowsky said as his team celebrated their 26-17 win over the B.C. Lions in the West Final later Sunday. "He's a good player and a good guy."

Dinwiddie will lead Winnipeg into the Grey Cup game next Sunday at Rogers Centre in Toronto against the Roughriders.

Glenn executed Winnipeg's gameplan brilliantly over three quarters. First the Bombers established the run with Roberts (25 carries, 105 yards), then implemented a pinpoint short passing attack against the CFL's top-ranked defence. Glenn, the only CFL quarterback to pass for more than 5,000 yards this year, completed 15-of-21 passes for 201 yards and a TD to stake the Bombers to a 19-9 lead before getting hurt.

"Ryan is intelligent enough that we can continue to do what we've done with Kevin," said veteran receiver Milt Stegall, who had four catches for 37 yards and a TD. "When he got into the huddle he just took command.

"He wasn't scared, he wasn't nervous ... that's how you want your quarterback to be, a little cocky a little confident and Ryan is definitely that."

Dinwiddie certainly looked poised, completing 4-of-4 passes for 80 yards although the second-year player from Boise State botched a handoff to Roberts. Toronto recovered it at its three-yard line with 4:51 remaining.

"That's the life of a backup quarterback," said Dinwiddie. "You work hard to be ready for any opportunity you can get.
