Grameenphone on Tuesday (1st Sept 09) announced that Rubaba Dowla Matin, the chief communications officer, has resigned on personal grounds. The largest mobile-phone operator in Bangladesh in a press release said Kazi Monirul Kabir, head of regional sales, has replaced Matin. Interesting but true, Kazi Monirul Kabir have the Marketing Chief at Banglalink earlier. The experienced executive caps another top designation to his name after BAT, Rahimafrooz, Banglalink and Market Access. Rumor says, as CCO, Kabir will also be part of the Grameenphone management team.

Media-savvy Matin has been at the centre of the rumour swirling over the last week that she had been fired, or she had called it quits. Earlier, Rubaba is reported to have said last thursday, "I haven't resigned." Talat Kamal, deputy general manager of public relations, tried to keep it low, saying "She (Dowla) is doing office, I talked to her this morning."

Rumor says, The announcement came after days of speculations that she and several other senior executives had been sacked on the process.
