The idea
Green Design Festival is an original, public, free cultural event under the aegis of the City of Athens. It aims at fostering a wider understanding about environmental and ecological issues amongst the citizens of Athens and beyond.
Using new technologies, powerful imagery and design, this festival will transform Athens into a lively, interactive space which will present proposals and ideas about how everyday life could be greener and more friendly to the environment.
Participants include over 70 architects, industrial designers, graphic designers, fashion and street artists, who have worked on the theme of the festival on projects who embrace the non-connoisseur.
Η ιδέα
Το Green Design Festival είναι μια πρωτότυπη, υπαίθρια, δωρεάν πολιτισμική δράση υπό την αιγίδα του Δήμου Αθηναίων, που σκοπό έχει την ευαισθητοποίηση των πολιτών της Αθήνας για περιβαντολλογικά και οικολογικά ζητήματα.
Χρησιμοποιώντας τις νέες τεχνολογίες, την εικόνα και το design, το Green Design Festival έχει στοπό να μετατρέψει κατά την διάρκειά του την πόλη, σε ένα ζωντανό διαδραστικό χώρο ιδεών και προτάσεων με θέμα το πώς η ζωή μας και η πόλη μας μπορεί να γίνει πιο πράσινη και φιλική.
Έχουν προσκληθεί περισσότεροι από 70 αρχιτέκτονες, βιομηχανικοί σχεδιαστές, γραφίστες, fashion και street artists, να δουλέψουν με θέμα το περιβάλλον και με επίκεντρο τον μέσο πολίτη να δημιουργήσουν μια εμπειρία με οικολογικά μέσα και μηνύματα.
Programme
The programme of the festival revolves around the ‘ecomuseum of green design’, a green contemporary open playground at Syntagma Square. The ecomuseum showcases the vast majority of projects in a light, alternative construction which will host exhibitions of photography, eco-conscious fashion, industrial design, video art and mixed media, a green library and a small open-air amphitheatre made of wooden re-used palettes for concerts and educational activities. Entrance is free.
In selected central points of Athens, two big events will be presented. With the participation of the most vibrant street artists of Athens, the center of the city will be turned into a colourful forest of tall graffiti trees. Also, distinguished graphic artists will create various interactive imaginary maps of the city, which can be freely downloaded to almost any mobile phone inviting the public to take part in a vast interactive green game.
Guerrilla motion design videos will be uploaded on the web, inviting everyone to become a ‘guerrilla gardener’ of the city by creating green where it does not exist.
Πρόγραμμα
Το πρόγραμμα του Green Design Festival δομείται με επίκεντρο το ‘οικο-μουσείο του green design’ (ecomuseum), ένα οικολογικό σύγχρονο open playground στην Πλατεία Συντάγματος. Στο αντιμουσείο φιλοξενούνται οι κεντρικές δράσεις στο φεστιβάλ σε μια ελαφριά, εναλλακτική κατασκευή που θα φιλοξενήσει εκθέσεις φωτογραφίας, πράσινης μόδας και βιομηχανικού σχεδιασμού, video και mixed media, την πράσινη βιβλιοθήκη του Green Design αλλά και ένα μικρό ανοικτό αμφιθέατρο κατασκευασμένο εξολοκλήρου από ξύλινες παλέτες, το οποίο θα φιλοξενεί συναυλίες και εκπαιδευτικά δρώμενα.
Σε διάφορα κεντρικά σημεία της πόλης θα φιλοξενηθούν δυο ακόμη μεγάλες πράσινες δράσεις street art και διαδραστικού graphic design. Με τη συμμετοχή των street artists της Αθήνας και την επιμέλεια του b. το κέντρο της πόλης θα μετατραπεί σε ένα πολύχρωμο δάσος από μεγάλα graffiti σε μορφή γιγάντιων δέντρων. Παράλληλα, διακεκριμένοι graphic designers θα δημιουργησουν μεγάλους πράσινους χάρτες της Αθήνας που με ένα απλό άνοιγμα του bluetooth του κινητού μας, θα μπορούμε να αποκτούμε, να στέλνουμε, να ανεβάζουμε στο internet, προσκαλώντας όλη την πόλη να λάβει μέρος σε ένα ιδιαίτερο διαδραστικό πράσινο παιχνίδι.
Κατά τη διάρκεια του φεστιβάλ, μικρά guerilla motion design videos θα γεμίσουν τα ιντερνετικά κανάλια κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, προσκαλώντας μας όλων να γίνουμε ‘guerilla gardeners’ στις πόλες μας, δημιουργώντας πράσινο εκεί που δεν υπάρχει.

Green Design Festival is organised and produced by Brainlab, an independent, non-governmental, non-for-profit organisation. Brainlab was founded in 2007 in Athens by a group of architects, curators and communication professionals in order to enable and create cultural activities on social issues and bring out innovation in the fields of applied arts. Ιδρύθηκε το 2007 από επαγγελματίες αρχιτέκτονες, επιμελητές και ελεύθερους επαγγελματίες με σκοπό την δημιουργία πολιτισμικών δράσεων γύρω από ζητήματα που αφορούν την κοινωνία και αναδεικνύουν την ελληνική καινοτομία στο χώρο των εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών.
