The mission of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center is to provide education, support and advocacy for gender and sexual orientation equity to the SUNY Oneonta Campus and the greater Oneonta community. We exercise an active position for social and political justice with regards to sex, gender, and sexual orientation and their intersections with race, ethinicity, class, religion, age and ability.
The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center exists to provide a safe space on campus for ALL. EVERYONE has a gender and a sexuality. Although we strive to be a space where women, gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender individuals, queer people and other marginalized personas can be safe and welcomed, we also serve the ENTIRE community and are open to EVERYONE. We are here to educate the campus community about gender and sexual equity and help foster dialogue regarding a basic understanding of gender and sexuality. We bring together individuals of all genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, classes, abilities, religions and ages.
The GSRC supports a variety of programs on topics relating to gender and sexuality. Annually, we host a Pride Week in the Spring and events around National Coming Out Day in the Fall. Besides that, we host weekly Dialogue Sessions, hold Safe Space Training Sessions, and support several other programs and groups.
