* Hike Wet Beaver Creek near Sedona (Saturday, 8/28)

Do you enjoy visiting the red rock country near Sedona? Like to
cool off in a natural pool carved out of the sandstone cliffs?
If so, join us for a day hike along the Bell Trail in the Wet
Beaver Creek Wilderness, 2 hours north of Phoenix. This 8-mile
round-trip hike leads to a wonderfully scenic spot to hang-out
and relax, swim, cliff jump, and just enjoy the outdoors. The
elevation gain for the portion of the trail we will hike is
approximately 600'. There is no shade on the trail, so plan on
bringing plenty of water, sunblock, hat, as well as a towel,
lunch, gas money for the driver, and hiking boots. For details
and to RSVP, contact Jim Graham (jgaz1@cox.net, 480-456-6864).

* Weekend Trip to Overgaard (Friday 9/3 - Sunday 9/5)

Come up to the cooler climes over Labor Day weekend. Drive up on
Friday or Saturday and stay as long as you want. My cabin is one
hour East of Payson at 6500 foot elevation and has running water, a
hot shower and all the major appliances. So this isn't roughing
it. Sleep on the carpet or pitch a tent in back. While up in pine
tree country, you can hike, bike, kayak or hit the antique stores. I
have two bikes and two kayaks with all the gear. We'll bonfire at
night and explore during the day. For details or to RSVP, contact
Mickey (602-402-1955 or click on the link below).

run. For time and location details, please contact Brian Katz at

* Volunteers Needed

--- Lead a Hike!

It can be an impromptu hike for the coming weekend or sharing a
fun, new destination with friends and new acquaintances. It all
starts by coming to a planning meeting or by responding to this
e-mail with an idea for a hike you'd like to do with the
group. Looking for hike ideas? Check out the Arizona Adventurers web
links page, which aims to be the best (and if not, at least link to
the best !-)

--- Call for Volunteers: JSupportAZ Needs You!

JSupportAZ, a partnership of volunteer individuals and community
organizations coming together in response to the personal hardships
many Jewish families are facing as a result of the current economic
downturn, is seeking individuals to donate professional time and
services to help improve the lives of those in need.

Professionals such as physicians, dentists, optometrists, attorneys,
accountants, insurance brokers and any other individuals who may be
able to provide services are needed to help members of our local
Jewish community who are unemployed, in financial, legal or
emotional crisis, or are in need of other life sustaining services.

For more information or to sign up please contact Robyn Cohen at,
480-415-7105 or email her at rcohen@jsupportaz.com
