Midnight Movies was launched on Leap Day 2008 with Brian Yuzna's SOCIETY. Since then we've shown the original GRINDHOUSE, welcomed ROGER CORMAN, unearthed SKIDOO, wigged out to EXTE: HAIR EXTENSIONS, and seen MANNEQUIN versus BREAKIN' in an 80s explosion. Animated wonders PAPRIKA and FANTASTIC PLANET, were followed by Robin Ince presenting CRY-BABY. A League of Gentlemen hosted HALLOWEEN ALL-NIGHTER, a VICE MAGAZINE special and PICCADILLY with live score rounded off the year. 2009 kicked off with a double bill of SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGO and DJANGO followed by special guest BRUCE CAMPBELL. We celebrated 1 year with FREAKS, then joined up with the LLGFF for a SQUEEZEBOX tribute and most recently we invited you to stay up late at our GEORGE A ROMERO tribute - his 'Dead Trilogy'. Then we had Suspiria o Sat 2nd May introduced by Dario Argento himself and Claudio (Goblin) Simonetti! May also saw a sneak preview of DRAG ME TO HELL, whilst in June the Man! JOHN LANDIS introduced An American Werewolf in London. July, we had the English Premiere of Lars Von Trier's ANTICHRIST, plus our popular 80s PARTY with Blue Velvet vs Pretty in Pink, then in August it was an Adult Swimathon with ROBOT CHICKEN PREMIERE. We also hosted an audience participation screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as part of the Curzon 75th Anniversary events! (read less)
