I strongly believe that the new Aston University logos are horrible

I just read a email sent from the Vice-Chancellor sent to all students about a "brand" change.

There are new logos and letterheads/presentation slides.

They are horrible. An upside-down triangle. I wonder how much the spent on developing them!

Message sent on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julia King

I am pleased to introduce to you the new University brand. We believe it
represents a significant step forward and will prove to be a great asset
in raising Aston's profile as a dynamic, forward-looking university. It
has a fresh feel about it, with a strong indication of our forward focus
and movement. It is a bold and confident statement, building on the
three elements of the University mission - excellence in learning &
teaching; research; and community engagement - and our location with the
'Aston Triangle' as the dominant feature. It gives us a wide colour
palette and offers the opportunity for schools, departments and other
groups in the university to develop their own look and feel to
communications and reports whilst remaining clearly within the Aston
visual brand.

Please find below a link to a series of slides showing you the new
brand, from the logo to some of the ways in which the brand identity can
be applied. I realise you will have some affection for the previous
brand - which indeed we all have - but I hope you like the new one and
recognise its importance to Aston as we continue to raise our profile
and further establish ourselves as a leading university.
