To anyone who has attended the Governor's School program of North Carolina:
Since 2005, there has been a lot of vocalized opposition to NCGS, starting with the "GSW turned my son gay" letter and opposition to films shown at Governor's School.
I think that we need to take a stand so that we can preserve this program for other North Carolina high schoolers, in case we would need to take action. I am willing to take whatever action is necessary, from writing to our state representatives or local school boards, or even speaking in defense of Governor's School if necessary.
Let's paint a picture of the positive experiences we had together at Governor's School and the bond that exists between all of us, regardless of whether we went to NCGS the same year.
On the Wikipedia page for NCGS, it says that the slogan for Governor's School is "Accept Nothing. Challenge Everything." We need to challenge the opposition to Governor's School just like we challenged our beliefs, religions, and aesthetic boundaries during those wonderful six weeks.
Please invite everyone you know that has attended NC Governor's School and would help with our cause.
Thank you,
Anna Diemer
