Some New Trend is a book-length fiction story written by Carrie Rollwagen and Kevin Wilder. We write, publish, and podcast a new chapter each week on our blog. We’re also an online community that reviews books, music, and movies geared toward our Young Adult (YA) audience.
As many publishers scramble to find a way to present books (and magazines and newspapers) to readers in a digital format, we wondered—what would it be like to publish a book on the internet? We like the idea of publishing as we go, getting feedback from readers along the way via comments and emails. Think of us as guinea pigs, happily exploring the vast possibilities and limitations of an interactive story.
Serialized fiction is nothing new—Dickens seemed to like it—but it seems to have fallen out of favor in recent years. In the spirit of YA favorites like The Pigman and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, this seemed like a fun way to try writing something together.
