Internal air pollution (IAP) is a result of inefficient cook stoves, or cook stoves being placed in areas without proper ventilation. The WHO considers IAP the fourth leading health concern world wide. IAP is most harmful to women and children because they spend the most time in the kitchen. In addition to lung problems such as upper respiratory infections, lowered lung capacity and so forth, inefficient cook stoves may also cause severe eye irritation and burns.

The SHH: IAP Initiative needs money! We recently received a $1000 grant from the Carter Foundation, but need enough money to purchase stoves for the members of Siete de Abril. Any information on additional grants would be greatly appreciated. Also, keep an eye out for letter writing campaigns!
