Here are some suggestions for creating a "Healthy Husky" meal: What to add to the "Healthy Husky" entrée:
1. Add vegetables (salad bar and/or steamed vegetables).

2. Choose a grain to incorporate onto your plate if the "Healthy Husky) entrée does not include one, preferably whole grain. If you do not choose a whole grain at lunch, make sure to have one at dinner. Try adding brown rice, whole wheat pasta, or a slice of whole grain bread or roll.

3. Always leave with a piece of fruit for dessert or for a snack later on.

4 Things You Need to Know When Eating in Your Dining Unit
1. Avoid going longer than 5 hours without eating by:
A. Not skipping meals
B. Incorporating a healthful snack between meals that are spaced far apart. It prevents you from being so hungry at the next meal that it's more difficult for you to choose healthy food options.

2. Be informed of the food choices before putting food on your plate.
A. Look online or in UCuisine before coming to the dining unit.
B. Look around at the food offered when you first arrive at your dining unit.

3. Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach, especially if you are very hungry. You can go up for more servings, therefore, do not overload your plate.

4. Eat slowly and mindfully. You will be more apt to be in touch with, and listen to, your hunger and fullness cues.
