- Founded on May 20, 1841, Chi Psi is a (private) fraternity of gentlemen devoted to the advancement of intellectual, moral and social life for both the individual and collective. A selective association of diverse individuals, Chi Psi is dedicated to the cultivation of a unique environment which instills a lifelong commitment to Brotherhood and friendship.
The mission of the Chi Psi Fraternity is to create and maintain an enduring society which encourages the sharing of traditions and values, respect for oneself and others, and responsibility to the university and community.
As one of America's premier Fraternities, Chi Psi is the oldest social fraternity, dating back to our founding over 166 years ago. Chi Psi has rich traditions that exemplify the true meaning of brotherhood, and have remained unchanged since 1841. The one quality that is true for every Brother of Chi Psi is that he is first a foremost a gentlemen.
Interesting facts
* Over 85% of the student leaders on some 730 campuses are involved in the Greek community.
* All but eight U.S. Presidents have been fraternity men since 1825 when the first social fraternity was founded. Today, 76% of all U.S. Congressmen and Senators are Greek.
* Of the nations 50 largest corporations, 43 are led by fraternity men and sorority women.
* Greeks raise over $7 million for charity every year.
* A U.S. Government study shows that over 70% of all those who join a fraternity/ sorority graduate, while under 50% of all non-fraternity/sorority persons graduate.
* Students who join Greek organizations are more likely to return to school the following year.
* 850,000 hours are annually volunteered by Greeks across the country.
* Approximately 85% of the top executives of Fortune 500 companies belong to a fraternity or sorority.
