Listen up MLB and Fox Sports! You can't hold baseball hostage on Saturday afternoon. Give us our baseball! There's no hostage taking in baseball.
Fox buys exclusivity rights to games, and then intentionally withholds them from the fans. It's careless and financially irresponsible to buy exclusive rights to an event, and then not broadcast it. Not to mention, a total dick move.
Each Saturday, Fox & MLB needlessly blackout premium MLB.TV & inDemand Extra Inning subscriptions for 3 or 4 game broadcasts without a competing broadcast on any format (cable, web or over the air). What's the point?
FOX insists on nationwide exclusivity for games each Saturday, despite the fact that they only broadcast 1 game in each region. Someone at Fox should tell us why they need national exclusivity they don't intend to use, and MLB should not allow this to happen in the first place.
Here's a look at how long this has been going on at Fox's own website. http://kl.am/hDz
More than 80 comments dating back to 2007, from fans (all of them angry) and not a word from Fox or MLB. That's business as usual for them. We took a legit complaint to their own website, and they don't give it a second thought.
MLB and Fox need to figure out a way to work together and deliver their products to the people that want them! Believe it or not, there's money in that.
With pointless blackouts, they're slapping some of their biggest customers in the face: the out-of-market fans. These fans pay the most and jump through the biggest hoops to follow their teams.
MLB, at the very least, address your premium subscribers like we're one of the most valuable media market segments you've got. Because that's exactly what we are.
FOX, don't take baseball hostage. If you insist on exclusive broadcasts, deliver your product to the fans.
Sincerely,
MLB & Fox Suck For Holding Baseball Hostage
