The internet allows for the free expression of uncensored, unofficial, views, opinions, political, social dialogue and interaction. The internet has proved to be a useful tool for artists seeking an audience outside conventional art-world settings. This is what interests me a medium of art that cannot be controlled but is free and accessible for a large population of the world to view at a click of a mouse. I have always been interested about the power of social communication technology within the internet and watching it evolve. Now on line social programs such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, YouTube and Flickr are rapidly growing like a living organism and millions upon millions are constantly signing up to join these trends of modern age popular culture. Artists have the chance to exploit and tap into this popular culture phenomenon within their creative practices and reach out to new audiences and like minded people through cyber space.I created a website http://http://www.worldartcollective.org/. This is my platform where I created awareness about the issue of human rights violations, injustice and persecution.
Recently I have created the blog http://blog.worldartcollective.org/ and a twitter account http://twitter.com/WACollective for the current artwork project for 2009 titled 'Little man protest'. Little man protest is about creating miniature style art in public spaces. In this instance they are tiny protestors commenting on the quote, "When a thought of War comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of Peace." I used a quote of personal reflection with the aim of transforming daily thoughts of negativity into positive thoughts of social action and dialogue. The scale of the artwork has a humour element to it since they are tiny little red men. People vieiwing it may or may not take it seriously. But the message the artwork conveys with the quote is very real and that message is Peace...
I will be placing these sculptures in different places around Auckland City, New Zealand, over the next several weeks. I will be messaging people in real time through the process of text messaging to Twitter.com once the artwork is live and can be viewed. These artworks are meant to be a one day sculptural performance protest. And like all protests it can end with a positive note or a negative one depending on what the viewer takes from the quote.

Isaac Hindin Miller, a fashion and pop culture blogger residing in Auckland, New Zealand, interviewed me about the artwork. Read about it on http://www.isaaclikes.com/2009/04/422-pitter-patter-of-little-protesting.html.
