SPEAK OUT, SISTER!
Madison SOS (Speak Out, Sister!) is a city-wide organization that was founded in 2007 by Natalia Thompson, then a sophomore at West High, to make teen girls' voices heard on the issues that most matter to them.
Over the last few years, we've organized workshops on community leadership, raised awareness of issues like teen dating violence, lobbied decision-makers for better policies and laws on issues like sexual harassment and sex ed, and painted a mural depicting girls' visions for change.
Now we're working on a project called "Speak Out!", which is a way for teen girls to share their views with decision-makers on important issues like racial justice, drug and alcohol use, mental health, education, sexual health, and more. Madison high school teen girls can participate by taking the survey and sharing their views on these and other issues (see below for details).
