The White Ribbon has long since been used as a symbol of communal harmony in South Asia.This Campaign is now being rendered strongly as a movement which tries to reshape and open out identity paradigms in order to bring about a resolution of the communal conflict in South Asia, which is a residue of the Partition of the subcontinent leading to the creation of a separate Islamic State in 1947.
Besides the maintenance of strong inter-faith relations, this group will also focus on strengthening and fostering democracy and democratic principles such as pluralism,diversity and freedom of expression.
