A Group for members and supporters of The Arkansas American Legion Family. The Arkansas Department of The American Legion was the first to be incorporated and Arkansans attended both the Paris and St. Louis caucuses.
The Legion sponsors Arkansas Boys State, American Legion Baseball, Junior Shooting Sports, the National High School Oratorical Contest, the Family Support Network, and many other programs that support veterans, widows, orphans and youth.
Arkansas was the first Department to obtain enactment of a law creating a State supported veterans service bureau to assist all veterans with claims for government benefits, and State aid for administrative support of a child welfare division.
The American Legion is open to any person who served at least one day on active duty during wartime including those still serving in the active or reserve military.
Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of members of The American Legion, and to the mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of the United States during a period of wartime.
Membership in the Sons of The American Legion is open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during a period of wartime.
