THE CURRENT BIG PROJECT--NATIONAL JAMBOREE STORYTELLING CONCERT

The Storytelling Merit Badge made the May 2006 National BSA Advancement Board Meeting, but the Board had difficulty distinguishing between Storytelling and the already-present Communications Merit Badge.

As a result, the current plan of 2009 is to have a storytelling concert at the huge National Jamboree itself. This will be a place that not only the National Advancement Committee would attend, but also thousands of Boy Scouts. The committee's eyes would be opened--ready for a new proposal--and then there would be positive pressure from the Boy Scouts for the storytelling merit badge.

I picture at least six youth tellers--all Boy Scouts--representing different regions of the United States. I have also had several chats with Donald Davis in the past two years in regards of him telling alongside these youth.
