The Vulcan will be featured on the BBC's Culture Show this Thursday on BBC2 at 7pm. "Lauren Laverne examines the future of the British pub"

St Davids 2 and developer Rapport have submitted a couple of planning applications for the land around The Vulcan.

They include building a multi-storey car park behind the pub along the railway line and extending the temporary surface car park into the corner near the railway bridge / Ty Pont Haearn.

Neither mean the demolition of The Vulcan!

Despite overwhelming public support and newly-researched evidence into the history of The Vulcan, Cadw have refused to list it as a protected building.

The fight goes on.

Jeremy Vine of Radio 2 fame visited the Vulcan and interviewed campaigners and locals - he had a good look round the pub and seemed genuinely sad that the pub is under threat.

CAMRA presented the Vulcan with the Pub of the Year award! Yay :)

17th APRIL 2009

Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg dropped into The Vulcan on his way to the Welsh Lib Dem Conference.

He chatted to renowned regular Martin Stewart and landlady Liz Smart before pulling a pint of Brains Bitter for the cameras.

Cadw are hoping to send some news by the end of April.

Campaigners met Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones and local AM Jenny Randerson at The Vulcan for a drink and to discuss the campaign.

The Minister took great interest in the photos on the pub wall and we impressed on him the great support there is for this fantastic old pub.

*PLUS* Cadw have indicated that they should come to a conclusion on listing The Vulcan by Easter time...
