Replace Lab Fees for Business Courses with a
Business College Fee—7/23/09

As many of you may already know, UAHuntsville is moving away from a Lab Fee system to College Fees. In fact, Engineering and Nursing have utilized College Fees for several years. Beginning fall 2009, the Colleges of Business, Science, and Liberal Arts will replace our Lab Fees with College Fees. You may recall that many of our business courses included Lab Fees in the range of $25-$50 per course. Some were as high as $125 per course. These fees have been replaced with a standard Business College Fee of $13.50 per credit hour for all Business courses.

We have talked to many students about specific student services that need additional support. In response to student suggestions, the Business College Fee will be directed to increasing the number of advisors in the Office of Academic Assistance, and the number of tutors for business courses in the office of Student Support Services. Moreover, we will also restore a substantial portion of the funds to support the Student Labs and other network support activities that were lost during the recent budget cuts.

Our goals are to continue to be recognized as one of the top business schools in the country, and to also ensure that we continue to provide an appropriate level of student support during these difficult economic times. We appreciate your understanding.
