Welcome to the Surfrider Foundation - Seattle Chapter!
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, California, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide.
The Seattle Surfrider executive team is developing a strategic plan for 2008. Part of that plan includes identifying key areas to focus on that impact our local water quality and marine habitat.
Our key focus points for 2008 will be:
- A campaign to ban plastic bags in Seattle
- Working with the Port of Seattle and King County to develop a plan to treat raw sewage from the marine cruise industry
- Other future goals include storm drain marking and watershed mapping.
Want to know more? Would you like to get involved in one of our projects for 2008? We need volunteers!
