* Wait – what? Japan? Who? Why? Yeah. On 11/20 I’m heading over to Tokyo to try my luck with music overseas. But worry not! I’m back in NYC in June when I’ll be doing a CD release concert and tour for “Japanese Satellites.” =) But since I’m going to be crazy busy preparing for the move up until 11/20, come on out this Thursday, have a drink, stock up on copies of “Strangely Beautiful” (I need to get rid of them or else my luggage will weigh a TON) and we can do a rousing 80s cartoon medley sing-along. Or something. Maybe drinks after the show. Iunno yet. You know Danny + planning = oil + water…

===================================

Hey all!

I just returned from the recording studio and I'm ecstatic! We laid down drum tracks for the songs on my forthcoming 7th album, "Japanese Satellites." And they sound incredible. This album will blow you out of the water!

“Japanese Satellites” will feature many talented New York City musicians. Rooted in folk-pop storytelling, “Japanese Satellites” will contain elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop, chamber-pop, dance, musical theater and punk. It will reflect stylist influences from The Postal Service to Ben Folds. Quite simply, it will be amazing =)

Will, will, will. Wait - why am I saying "will?"

Because recording an album is an expense I can't afford without your support.

Your extreme generosity helped make “Strangely Beautiful,” my previous album, possible. I couldn't have done that album without you and I definitely can't do “Japanese Satellites” without you.

Will you help me meet my fundraising goal of $15,000?

Sure, $15,000 sounds like a crazy amount, but think about it this way – over 1500 of you have supported me by joining my mailing list and being my MySpace and Facebook friends.

If each of you donate just $10 (the price of two drinks at Starbucks!), I can easily reach my fundraising goal in no time!

Why $15,000?

1. Studio fees - each song takes approximately 11 hours to rehearse, record and mix. At a studio rate of $65 an hour, that comes to approximately $715 per song. At 10 songs that's $7,050.

2. Musician fees / session work - each song involves a minimum of bass, guitars, drums, keyboards and vocals. Each musician gets paid $75/song. That comes to $375 a song. At 10 songs that’s $3,750.*

3. CD design fees - $1000

4. CD mastering fees - $800

5. CD duplication fees - $2000

6. Misc. expenses (gas, tolls for musicians) - $400

* As many of you know, it's close to impossible to make it as a full time musician in New York City. I strongly believe that all musicians must be fairly paid for contributions. Your generosity ensures that each musician gets paid a respectable hourly wage. The value they will add to this album cannot be overstated – it is, quite simply, priceless.

Now I know these are tough economic times. The recession's taking a toll on all of us.

So as a way to thank you for your continued support:

1. The South Williamsburg [$10] - A thank you in the CD liner notes and a pre-release copy of Japanese Satellites

2. The Hipsterville [$25] - A thank you in the CD liner notes, a pre-release copy of the CD and 2 free tickets to my CD release concert (a $40 value!)

3. The Brooklyn [$50] - A thank you in the CD liner notes, a pre-release copy of the CD, 2 free tickets to my CD release concert and a chance to win a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate (a $65 value!)

4. The New York City [$100] - A thank you in the CD liner notes, 2 pre-release copies of the CD, 4 free tickets to my CD release concert and a chance to win a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate (a $130 value!)

5. My First Born Child [$200 or more] - Um, kidding. Maybe.

You too can play an active roll in this project. And you should be proud of what we've accomplished together!

Thanks as always for you love, support and allowing me to pursue this crazy dream!

Danny

P.S. At the end of the day, isn't this what life's about? Being able to tap into your passions, find your calling and follow your dreams? You’re helping me live mine and for that I cannot thank you enough!
