BEST FOR YOU AND THE OCEAN
- Anchovies
- Farmed arctic char
- Atlantic mackerel
- Mussels
- Farmed oysters
- Alaskan or Canadian sablefish
- Wild Alaskan salmon (including canned)
- Sardines
- Farmed rainbow trout
- U.S. or Canadian albacore tuna
WORST FOR YOU AND THE OCEAN
- Chilean seabass
- Grouper
- Monkfish
- Orange roughy
- Farmed Atlantic salmon
- Shark
- Imported swordfish
- Tilefish (Gulf of Mexico/South Atlantic)
- Tuna, bigeye/yellowfin (imported longline)
- Tuna, bluefin
Why does this matter? Some kinds of fish are harvested more sustainably, or are less likely to contain dangerous contaminants. Fish on our Best Choices list are both good for you AND the oceans.
