Jeepney Magazine is the first street paper in developing Asia.

Street papers are independent newspapers and magazines that provide unique employment opportunities for homeless and poor persons in at least 200 of the world’s largest cities, including New York, London, Munich, Amsterdam, St. Petersburg, Melbourne, Milan, and Osaka.

In the Philippines, Jeepney Magazine’s main goal is to create and provide jobs for the homeless community that meets or exceeds the minimum wage. Our vendors sell the magazine for Php 100, of which Php 50 goes to the vendor selling the paper. We also provide our vendors the training and education they need, on direct sales, people interaction, goal-setting and saving and help them experience a sense of dignity and self-worth.

The Jeepney Magazine publishes articles presenting the social and personal voice of those living in marginalized situations. Aside from awareness, we aim to empower the poor by showing their existing conditions creatively and accurately. (read less)
