The Detroit Notes Professionals is having a user group meeting on Oct 7 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Novi, MI. If you're interested in attending, click here: http://www.aktion.com/events/collaborationroadmap Here's a rundown of the presentations: Speaker: Scott Souder, Product Management, End-User Messaging & Colla...boration, Lotus Software Topic: Lotus Notes 8 Client Demo The power and flexibility of our flagship product, IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8 -- and the about-to-be-released IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5.1 -- continue to provide our partner and customer community with many new opportunities. This session will cover recent Lotus Notes and Domino highlights and share insights into plans for upcoming features and capabilities so that you can navigate the road ahead with an eye toward improving productivity and reducing costs. Scott Souder began his career at Lotus in 1989 as part of the original team focused on developing and selling the Lotus Notes product. Some of Scott's responsibilities have included product development, management of key relationships between many of IBM's largest customers and various engineering teams, plus the establishment of the Global Customer Partnership Council (GCPC), the Enterprise Customer Support Council (ECSC), Engineering Outreach, and the Design Partner program within Lotus. Scott is now working as a senior member of the Product Management team within Lotus. Speaker: Lisa Sarkady, IBM Lotus Technical Sales Topic: Sametime Advanced Lotus Sametime celebrates its tenth anniversary this year! Sametime has been a key component in Lotus' overall collaboration strategy from the start. Early last year, Lotus offered an advanced version of Lotus Sametime. This new version provides features that will make collaborating with users in your organization even more effective and valuable than ever before. These new features include persistent group chat, skill tap, instant polling, broadcast chat, broadcast announcements, instant desktop sharing location services. Please join Lisa Sarkady for a demonstration of these exciting new features, as well as a discussion on how these features will significantly increase the business value of your existing Sametime infrastructure. Speaker: Mike Sobczak, Aktion Associates Topic: Lotus Mashups Have you ever needed a report that combines data from several data sources within your organization, without having the time or money to wait for a new report to be created by the IT department? Have you ever wanted to view your organization's data alongside external data available on the web, without breaking data security rules in the process? Released in 2008, Lotus Mashups provides you with the ability to assemble data feeds and widgets within a web browser, without having to write complex code, or wait for someone to write it for you. Additionally, you can share feeds, widgets and mashup pages you've created with other users, effectively increasing the value of those assests while reducing the mashup development time for your coworkers. In this presentation, Mike Sobczak will provide an overview of Lotus Mashups and the InfoSphere Mashup Hub, the applications that enable you to create, assemble and share mashup elements with other users in your organization. Mike will then demonstrate how to create feeds from a relational data source and a Domino data source. Finally, Mike will demonstrate several mashup pages he developed for internal use by Aktion Associates that combine sales activity data from MS SQL Server, customer data in Domino with accounts receivable data in MySQL, and show how these mashup pages provide management with the critical data necessary to faciliate our sales initiatives. Speaker: Suzanne Wilson, Aktion Associates Topic: Quickr 8.2 This presentation will review what's new in Quickr Release 8.2. Quickr 8.2 focuses Quickr Services for Domino with a strong emphasis on performance and administration. We'll look at the updates to the free SNAPPS templates for Quickr Services for Domino and the new free IBM templates for Quickr Services for WebSphere Portal (J2EE) which were released this year. There will be a demo of the new UI and features in Quickr 8.2 Services for Domino, and fiinally we'll outline methods programmers can use to customize Quickr. Speaker: Lisa Sarkady, IBM Lotus Technical Sales Topic: Lotus Connections 2.5 Social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Delicious and Twitter (to name a few) have been extremely popular for years. These services, however, are primarily geared towards networking and information sharing with friends and colleagues outside the office. Released in the summer of '07, Lotus Connections brings social networking to the enterprise. Lotus Connections provides an easy-to-use framework for employees to share information about themselves and also discover information on fellow employees, either down the hall or in another country. Employees already familiar with personal social networking tools can quickly and easily set up a profile, enter status updates and contribute to group activities. You can also extend Lotus Connections to your customers, partners and vendors, making them true collaborators in your business processes. Additionally, Lotus Connections can also be integrated with your existing Lotus Notes, Sametime and Quickr infrastructure, further increasing your ROI for those investments. In the first presentation on Lotus Connections to the DNP, Lisa Sarkady will provide a brief overview of this exciting product and demonstrate the new features provided with release 2.5, including Home page updates Wikis File sharing Mobile access Federated updates Microblogging Go to this URL for directions: http://www.cpnovi.com/hotelarea.htmlRead More
