The Spanish Ministry of Science has opened a fellowship program for
foreign visiting junior scholars who would like to work at a Spanish
Research institution/University with the support of the fellowship
program. The general conditions are:
1. Duration: between 9 and 18 beginning in the coming academic year (Sept.
2009-Sept. 2010).
2. A monthly salary of 1938 euros (before taxes),up to 3000 euros for
relocation expenses and full medical/social security coverage for the
fellow and family members. The candidate will have a full-time contractual
relationship with a Spanish institution that is incompatible with other
contractual relation with other academic/research institutions.
3. Receive the invitation of a Spanish professor / research team and
develop a collaborative work plan during the fellowship period.
I would be happy to provide the invitation (and assist with the
application), in my name and of my research group, for an interested
candidate who would be willing to develop the following work plan during
one academic year:
a. The visiting scholar would be associated with the 'Departmento
Interfacultativo de Psicología Evolutiva y de la Educación' (Developmental
and Educational Psychology, in the School of Psychology) of the
Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. However, candidates do not need to be
psychologists and may come from any of the social sciences appropriate for
the work-plan described below.
b. The theme of the work plan should center on "ethnographic and/or
discursive studies of childhood and/or education" and would mainly
consist in the organization of a permanent training seminar on the
selected topic for graduate and undergraduate students and interested
colleagues and collaborate with advising of graduate student's research.
English could be the main working language for these activities
(especially in relation to reading materials) but oral/conversational
skills in Spanish would be very helpful.
c. The fellowship requires full-time continuous commitment with the host
institution during the period of stay.
If you would like more information about this fellowship program, the work
plan or any other issues please do not hesitate to contact me. The
fellowship program is quite competitive and we are allowed to invite and
work on the application of only one candidate. Also, if we decide to
apply, we need to work quickly since full applications should be submitted
in the coming weeks.
