This group was formed in reaction to the initial layout redesign on July 31, 2008 & to the layout changes made again on March 12, 2009.
Additionally, we protested the changes regarding privacy made to theTerms of Service on February 4, 2009.
Facebook breached privacy yet again Dec. 9, 2009.
EPIC and 9 other privacy advocate groups have filed a formal complaint with the FTC. YAY!!!!

**INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ADJUST YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS: **
Click on Settings at the top right of the screen, and then Privacy Settings. Go through EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY of Privacy settings, including Search.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW, AS OF YESTREDAY, FACEBOOK WILL AUTOMATICALLY INDEX ALL YOUR INFO ON GOOGLE, BING AND ANY SEARCH ENGINE; THIS ALLOWS EVERYONE TO VIEW IT.
To change this option, go to Settings --> Privacy Settings --> Search --> then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Allow indexing'.
FRIENDS' LIST
1.Go to the FRIENDS box under your profile picture.
2.Click on the PENCIL icon (located to the right of the word FRIENDS) to edit.
3. Make sure that you have UNCHECKED the box that says Show Friends to Everyone.

APPLICATION SETTINGS
The new privacy changes are totally related to applications. Few know and thus don't care, but most Facebook users will now allow all applications all of their personal information. Add flash cookies to your list of issues of concern as it relates to the volume of kids on social games that do not know they are being tracked.
According to TechCrunch, 20% of all Facebook revenue comes from Zynga's 70 million users – particularly for applications like Farmville and Mafia Wars. It is possible that these applications are now adding cookies and spyware that is tracking you.
1. Make sure to go to Settings on top right and click Application settings. Your application settings are now showing to everyone by default and disseminating all of your personal information.
2. When you go to Application Settings you must click on EDIT SETTINGS for every single application.
3. The default is now set to Everyone. Someone just recommended that you set them to "Only me." Otherwise, if something gets posted on your friends' page and they're settings are visible to Everyone, what you're posting will eventually start coming up in Google searches and possibly Bing.
For each app:
Application settings. Then edit settings>profile>only me (in the drop-down)
and additonal settings>UNtick "pubish to my wall"
If you play Scramble, for example, there is no need for anyone else to know about it (especially in view of the fact that most games are made by Zynga). Also, for now ar least, I think it's a good idea to set "only me" for Superwall (now called RockYou) and Funwall.

Currently, Facebook claims that they allow free speech here. That is why they adamantly insist that Holocaust denial groups and other hate groups must remain on Facebook. And yet, they have deleted articles we've posted from the New York Times entitled "Holocaust Deniers Gather on Facebook" as well as Shauna's Wright's note "Sorry, Christopher. The new Facebook is STILL broken" along with some of the pictures we've posted below at least twice now. We also have had threads disappear that are critical of Facebook. Does this censorship seem like free speech to you?
