The Hindu Student Organization at the University of Southern California is a religious group that explores the many facets of the Hindu faith. The organization attempts to do so through open forms for debate on some of the most controversial aspects of the religion, through the guidance of guest speakers, through the translation of holy scriptures, and through the study of various aspects of the religion that have permeated into society and become a part of everyday life. These include issues as diverse as ayurvedic medicine, spiritual unity, polytheism versus monotheism, and the function of language and symbols in religion. The HSO is devoted to studying and learning about various directions of Hinduism, and providing an ideal setting for both those who practice the faith, and those who simply wish to learn more about this traditional religion to do so as well.
