You've read about colony collapse disorder and the desperate plight of the honey bee. You may also be aware that bee colonies are some of the most complex, beautiful, intelligent and useful miracles of evolution. Let's help the bee become the new polar bear. Raise public awareness and have some mad (confuse the hell out of friends & followers) new media fun at the same time.
It's simple:
1. swarm: ie invite other friends to join this group
2. change your twitter/FB pics to a bee photo
3. follow @tweehive; she's the queen bee
4. tweet as a bee on 7th August using #tweehive tag
- you can either just do the occasional bzzzz - or really get into character & really imagine what life would be like, what your bee would be doing, interact with other bees in the #tweehive stream
(lots of hints/resources at http://www.tweehive.com)
5. join the foraging game - hunt for flowers hidden on bee related sites; and RT them out to other bees
DECLARATION OF INTEREST: we are a bunch of bee loving volunteers doing this for no pay or hidden agenda like being linked to a famous brand of honey or anything commercial like that; except that we are part of the free http://pestival.org event at London's south bank (insects, art, ecology) and our third tweehive day on 5th Sept will be linked up live with this event.
