Nathan Flores

Nathan Flores Hey Mark, I've been talking to my clients about the HKC. Hopefully a few of them will make it there. It sounds like a great intro to the RKC.

i wasn't being cynical. should have put an "lol" after my comment. sorry if it was misunderstood - it was an absolutely wonderful experience. wouldn't trade it for anything.

Dale Buchanan

Dale Buchanan I heard that 30% of the people are not passing the HKC. If this is true, is that because of the pullup test, the movements done incorectly, or teaching skills?

Thanks

Dale,

at the first HKC it was mix of not passing the pullup or hang test or not being able to teach the skills which got most of the people who did not pass in my team.It is an instructor course.

Also I think, and this is what's so unique and special about the HKC is, that you have ordinary people doing an exdordinary thing....training hard to spend a whole day learning to become better athletes, for themselves...not necessarily to work in the fitness industry. If you watch any of the numerous video trailers John DuCane has produced ... Read Morepromoting the HKC you'll see, mostly, "regula"r people there. Why?

Well, I had three of my swing class students there as a personal challenge. Two of the three never intended to earn their Certification. In all honesty it was the hang that kept them from earning it, but they knew that going in. Both were female....I can't tell a womans age, nor her weight, but let's just say, both had extrodinary challenges. But what I can say, is that training with me, using my way of training the KB swing as the foundation of their workouts, perpared them phyisically, but they brought their "mental game" and killed it!

As I mentioned in an earlier comment....many RKC's will be born in the HKC, and my two girls came back more motivated than ever, commited, no matter how long it takes, to passing that damn hang!

Love it! This is the time, the "calm before the storm"! If you missed the first ever HKC in St. Paul, then don't miss the opportunity to be one of the first people to realize their athletic potential, on the cutting edge.....seriously! If you think the RKC is not for you......talk to me after you get your HKC Cert!

David Whitley

David Whitley Tip for HKC attendees: The getup you will be learning is the LOW sweep version. If you are practicing the High Bridge version from Kalos Sthenos, that is fine, but be able to do the low sweep version as well come test time.

is there a video of the "low sweep" version? I googled it but couldn't find anything. I want to have it nailed down before hand.

Stephen, I believe the low sweep getup is the getup shown on the ETK DVD.

Aside from purchasing Kalos Thenos, anyone have any tips on transitioning from 'shoulders on the floor to elbow on the ground opposite shoulder high' phase of the getup?

Thanks

Laura Sacks

Laura Sacks For those of you who are wanting to up your pull-up numbers, or to just to make them stronger, Senior RKC Sara Cheatham recently wrote a great blog on Greasing the Groove. Check it out, it's very informative. :)

It all started at the 2005 Kettlebell Convention. I didn’t know much about kettlebells at the time, but my husband persuaded me to go. Basically it was, "Hey I'm going to the kettlebell convention and it's right down the street, you should come check it out." I begrudgingly went. ...

John Williams I would like to have this thought considered, in stead of the pullup test can we just do the snatch test? As an option cause I would much rather do the snatch test myself.

Jon Engum Just completed teaching the Omaha HKC and everyone had a blast. Great people and excellent feedback. " The Best money ever spent." Instructor to Student ratio was 1 to 2. If you are on the fence, get off and jump at these - no better training and hands on personal attention given anywhere.
