"I remember every single thing from that day," says Rhiannon McCalmont, of Blendon Township. She was 7 and playing outside the house when Lee Baumann shot his estranged wife, son, McCalmont's mother and her boyfriend before killing himself.

Wow, Rhiannon had to deal with something at such a young age that is really unimaginable. Many people would not be able to form a decent life for themselves after that. Good for her as well as those who helped her keep on a good path.

No surprise to me...we love this town! We've lived in several states in various parts of the country and GR has some of the best restaurants and entertainment venues that we have seen anywhere. One of the best kept secrets in MI....well, it WAS. :)

"The City Commission is scheduled to meet in a special 7:30 a.m. session Wednesday to consider the request."

If I were a commissioner I'd vote "no way" just because I'd be grumpy that early in the morning. "No! You can't have your fireworks!"

One good thing about having it in January is that I'm sure there will be many places to lay down my blanket with the kid and eat chips.

Ben Padnos, a Democratic-leaning Internet entrepreneur, put up the Web site under a domain name, petehoekstra.com, that Hoekstra's campaign has been trying to get for years, said John Truscott, Hoekstra's campaign spokesman.

I agree with Padnos. Read his web site. It states facts and has no deceptions nor is it malicious. Maybe Padnos should run for governor. He seems honest and more in tune with Michigan society along with Michigan politics. He's definitely more adept in the electronic age. And why would anyone print in the newspaper their nationality? I ... See Morethought that to be in American politics, one must present themselves as American. Being Dutch is no excuse to lie or be ignorant. (or in this case cheap....)

WOW, Awesome! the Sentinel and the GR Press is in Pete Hoekstra... See More’s pocket, don’t be coy about it, whatever you do!
Pete’s face has been on the front page for 2 weeks now… thanks for the balanced reporting there guys! Do you really wonder why printed media is dying..Pete doesn’t need any campaign funds, heck you give him free of charge all the front page press he wants, you even printed his current campaign Internet address ON THE FORNT PAGE!! Nobody but the appointed one's gets this type of free press.
Pete says that the President didn’t connect the dots, but I really thought that ole Pete, being on the ultra important House Intelligence Committee, was at least one of those dots! What happened Pete? This very important committee so important that you use it for everything from breaching your contract with America on term limits {c’mon man you signed a freaking contract!!} to losing jobs for Standish, the old tried and true old scare tactics. This is now the 2nd time the chair of this committee issued Pete a stern warning to stop using the committee platform to get elected. 1st time was for breaching security by tweeting as he landed in Baghdad. where by endangering the lives of our boots on the ground in Baghdad the other people, including his Black Waters security buddies.
Secondly we all know Pete cannot read AND comprehend a bill of 2,000 pages, never mind intelligence reports the go on forever. Enough Grandstanding and acting the fool to get elected Pete, you still have a job to do that we elected you to do, there are over 200 bills waiting at the door of the house now..please go to work and legislate. At Least Pete has kept his promise in some ways, he certainly isn’t doing any legislating { Which means incidently; “to make laws or rules designed to bring about an action or condition” } these day.
