There many Armenians where I live, but few of them speak normal Armenian or do not even know the language at all. Lets pay more attention to our language rather than being Armenian or not. I have zero respect for Armenians who do not want to learn Armenian or Armenians in Armenia who try to be intelligent by speaking Russian on the street or even ... See Moreon TV. But what is more sad, is that no one sees this as a problem and no one complains about this. I have Turkish friends and a couple of them have a better basis in Armenian than many other Armenians. I learned them. One of them could even convince an Armenian girl that he is Armenian. This is both funny and shameful. We should be more nationalistic as for our language.

Gor, you are absolutely right. However, when Armenians grew up outside of country, it's not as easy to learn the language when nobody around or few speak your native language.

Armine, I grew up in a foreign country too. I never went to school in Armenia. And where I grew up there were also few Armenians. In our school I was even one of the few foreigners. You can learn it on the internet, by watching Armenian tv and so on. So its up to the person and not the country or environment. Also I have received many compliments from Dutch people, Germans, Turks and others that our language is very beautiful.

Thank you Tatev. Parents play a great role too. If they don't speak Armenian with their childeren it is obvious that the children won't speak it either. We have to create a standard Armenian and we have to get rid of dialect Armenian, which all Armenian speak when they meet each other. The difference between spoken and written has to become smaller... See More. Foreign, especially Turkish and Russian words are so integrated in our spoken language that we don't even notice that those words are not Armenian. For example: Ham es, ham el en. This is dialect for : And this and that. 'Ham' is a Turkish word. Correct Armenian would be: Yev ays, yev ayn.
'Ha' is also a Turkish word. Armenian is sounds much more beautiful and civilized: Ayo. What we don't know is that the word 'Ha' in Turkish sounds really rude and farmish.
I can name many more of these examples. Let us just speak Armenian.
