The Gift Shop was recently redesigned to deliver more ways for people to share gifts that are meaningful, useful, and fun with friends. Instead of having all gifts displayed within one box, you can now browse gifts more easily, the way you might in a mall. The new "mall style" design allows you to shop for gifts by categories, including sports, virtual gifts, charities, real gifts, e-cards, and music.

Since sharing music and physical gifts are important ways of staying connected with friends, we have added the option to send song gifts as well as real gifts. Additionally, you will also be able to send charity gifts, e-cards, and virtual gifts created by other parties, such as celebrity and registered brands.

To buy and send music, you can choose between web songs or downloadable MP3s powered by Lala.com. Web songs will appear in the gift recipient’s News Feed and profile Wall, where anyone can play them instantly. Recipients of MP3s will also have the ability to download them directly from their News Feed or profile Wall, as well as from the Gifts Received tab of the Lala application.

We will be rolling these changes out to everyone in the coming weeks, so don’t worry if you don’t see them. Note that music gifts and real gifts are currently limited to users located in the US only. All other gifts are available to users worldwide. We are working on expanding music and real gift options to those outside of the US as soon as possible.

The price of gifts changed to reflect a change in the value of the credits used to purchase gifts. Credits are now 10 for $1 USD. Most gifts in the gift shop now cost 10 credits instead of 100.

In the Gift Shop, you can select your gift recipient, gift image and delivery option (public, private or anonymous), and add a message for the recipient. If you don't have any gift credits on your account, you'll be prompted to buy gift credits, and then taken to a page where you can select the number of credits you'd like to purchase and enter your credit card information.

You can now purchase gift credits to be used toward the purchase of virtual gifts. Gift credits may be purchased at the rate of 10 credits for $1 USD. The value of each gift is shown below the gift. Facebook will continue to offer a limited number of virtual gifts for free to represent sponsors or special occasions.

Facebook introduced a credit-based purchasing model for the Gift Shop to allow for more flexibility in how virtual gifts are valued. This enables us to introduce variable gift values over time, so that users can give gifts with different values and express different levels of significance.

This $1.01 is simply a temporary authorization to validate your credit card. The authorization will be removed from your credit card automatically, typically within 3-5 business days. Facebook makes these authorization charges and then immediately invalidates them. If the $1.01 remains on your statement for an extended period of time, please contact your bank to ask why the authorization has not been removed even though it has been voided by Facebook.

Make sure that you have sent a public gift. If you sent a private or anonymous gift, it will not appear on the recipient’s Wall, but will still show in their Gift Box. You can see all the gifts you've sent by going to your Gift Box, clicking "See All," and then clicking "My Sent Gifts." You are the only person who is able to see this list of your sent gifts.

If your gift didn't send but you were charged for the gift credits you ordered, or existing gift credits were removed from your account, please click here and let us know. Please include any relevant information about the gift you were trying to send, including when the problem occurred and any error messages you saw.

You can manage your stored credit cards on Facebook by going to the Account page and scrolling to the "Manage Credit Cards" section.

I didn’t receive any free gift credits.

Unfortunately, we were not able to provide free gift credits to all users. We offered a limited number of free gift credits to certain users in order to increase visibility of the product when it first launched. From time to time, free Sponsored Gifts may be available. To see if there are any free gifts at this time, please click on the "Free" item filter in the Gift application.

I already used my free gift credits. Can I get more?

Users who received free gift credits were only able to use them once. From time to time, free Sponsored Gifts may be available. To see if there are any free gifts at this time, please click on the "Free" item filter in the Gift application.

Facebook is no longer giving new users free gift credits and is expiring existing free credits to simplify the gifts feature. You're welcome to purchase gift credits as always.

When you visit your friends' profiles near their birthdays, you may see the option to give them a gift rather than write on the wall as usual. If you'd like to write on their wall without sending a gift, simply click "Write" above the gift box.

There are three types of gifts you can give that have different visibility options.

• Public Gifts: If you give a public gift, users that can view the profile of the person you sent a gift to will be able to see the gift.
• Private Gifts: If you send a private gift, only the user who received the gift will be able to view the sender information and personal message - the icon will still show in their gift box though with the word "Private".
• Anonymous Gifts: If you send an anonymous gift, only the user who received the gift will be able to view the personal message, but neither the recipient nor their friends will be able to view the sender information. The gift will be visible in the recipient’s gift box, but not their Wall.

Only stories about public gifts may appear on your wall, just like when you post on someone's Wall. The gift itself will not be displayed on your wall, but a story saying that you've sent a gift may appear. You can edit your wall privacy settings to prevent these stories from being published to your wall.

You cannot delete a gift that you have already sent. Only the recipient can delete the gift. If the gift you sent is a public gift, you can change the privacy setting on the gift from public to private.

You can only change a gift from public to private. Once a gift is private, it cannot be made public. To make a public gift private, click on the 'Make it Private?' option on the gift in the recipient's Received Gifts page, accessible by clicking on the 'See All' link in the recipient's Gift Box.

Facebook has limits in place to prevent behavior that others may find annoying or abusive. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use certain features on the site. You have received a warning because Facebook determined that you were going too fast when sending gifts.

When you are allowed to resume using this feature, please proceed with caution to avoid reaching the limit again. Please be aware that the threshold at which you are warned is not a specific number, but rather determined by different factors (such as speed, time, and quantity).

Gifts may be given publicly, privately, or anonymously, but all gifts go into the recipient's Gift Box on their profile. When a gift is given publicly, it goes into the Gift Box and onto the Wall, where people will see who gave it and the message. When a gift is given privately, only the recipient will be able to read the message and see the sender. When a gift is given anonymously, only the recipient will be able to read the message and no one can see the sender.

Anyone who can see your profile can see your Gift Box, however people will only be able to see who sent them or the message if they were given publicly. For private gifts, users that can view your profile will be able to see the gift icon, but not view the sender information or personal message.

Yes, you can delete a gift by clicking on 'See All' on the Gift Box and managing your gifts from that page. You can delete gifts / make public gifts private, which removes them from the Wall and makes it so that others will not be able to read the message or know who sent it.

Because the Gifts application was created by Facebook, you will not be able to completely remove it from your account. However, you can remove all integration points for it. This will remove Gifts from your bookmarks, and remove any profile tabs or boxes. It won't prevent users from sending you gifts, but only your friends can send you gifts. To do this, please take the following steps:

1. Select the "Edit" link from the Applications menu in the bottom left corner of any Facebook page.

2. On the following page, find the Gifts application and click "X".

3. In the window that appears, click "Remove" to confirm the removal of that application from your profile, bookmarks, and the Applications page.

If you give a public gift, it's possible it may appear in the News Feed that the recipient's friends see. If you receive a gift, it's possible that your friends will see stories about public, private, and anonymous gifts you receive. If the story is about a public gift, the sender and the message will be displayed. If the story is private or anonymous, only the gift icon will be revealed.

I don’t see the Gift Box on my profile.

To display this application on your profile again, click on the "edit" link next to Applications in your left navigation column. Next, click "Edit Settings" to the right of the application’s name. Change the "profile" privacy option for this application to any setting other than "No one" and the application should reappear on your profile.

However, your Gift Box will not be visible if you have not received any gifts. If you haven’t received any gifts yet, the Gift Box will be visible once you have received a gift.

Please verify that the credit card number, address, and other payment information are correct before retrying your purchase. If you are still experiencing difficulty, contact us.
