Keep in mind that only the presentation of the information is changing — no additional information about you or other people is shared outside of what was already available in current search listings.
You can customize who can find you in search from the Search section of the Privacy Settings page. You will always have the option not to appear in search listings at all.
Anyone who is able to find you in search will always be able to click on your search listing in order to view your name and networks. You can further control the information that these users see by changing the options underneath the title "Search Result Content." There are five listed options: see your picture, send you a message, view your friend list, add you as a friend, and view the Pages you are a fan of. Un-checking any of these boxes will prevent the user from being able to perform the action.
Please note that you may see a different version of the site than others when you perform searches from your own account. You will always be able to find your profile in search because you can always view your own profile. However, users who do not have this permission will not be able to find your profile using search.

If you can't find a friend in search, there may be a few reasons for this:
- The other person might have a privacy option that limits your ability to find them in a search.
- The person you are looking for might not be on Facebook yet. Send them an Invite.
- Make sure to utilize the "People" search filter. This filter narrows your search to people on Facebook. From this filter, you can further refine your results by typing a location, school, or workplace in the appropriate field and clicking the "Filter Results" button. Note that searching for people on Facebook will only yield results for people permit their profiles to appear in search."

Any additional information that they can view when they click on your search listing is determined by your Search Result Content and Profile privacy settings.

We are aware of the problem that you described and hope to resolve it as soon as possible. However, please keep in mind that you can narrow your search results by using more targeted Search features, such as Profile Search.

From the "Search" section of the Privacy page, all users can adjust what people can do with their search results. When you are on the Search page, just type in the individual's name. You can also specify which network you want to search. When you enter a search on Facebook, you will land in the "All Results" filter by default. This filter includes all of the most relevant content from Facebook in addition to the web. To refine your search, select a filter from the menu on the left side of the search results page. Selecting one of these filters will display search results exclusively from that filter, and will also give you the option to narrow your search even more.
