In order to protect your financial information, we may occasionally ask you to authorize a transaction by providing additional info. You may be asked to complete a payment verification when making purchases on Facebook. For security reasons, we ask that you complete this verification in order to complete your purchase.

Note: We'll never ask you for your full credit card number. However, we may ask for the first six digits, or other verification info from your credit card statement.

To protect your financial information, we ask that you verify your account by providing the requested information. You may be asked to verify part of your credit card number, or provide a unique transaction code found on your credit card statement. Consider the following when verifying your payment:

  • Look for the unique transaction code on your credit card statement next to any of your purchases for your Facebook account. Keep in mind that this code is not the Transaction ID from your receipt from Facebook.
  • If you see a hold on your card statement, but no unique transaction code, please wait a few days for your information to post.
  • If you can't access your credit card statement or if any charges from Facebook haven't posted, we may be unable to process your transaction. When you're able to access your statement, you can provide this information on your next order.

If you can't provide this information, please let us know.

Note: You'll only be asked to complete a Payment Verification when you attempt to make a Facebook Games purchase. We'll never ask you for your full credit card number, but we may ask for the first six digits.

Whenever you add a new payment method, Facebook authorizes a temporary $1 charge, which we refund within 3 to 5 days.

If this charge remains on your statement longer than 5 days, please contact your bank for assistance.

If you haven't added a payment method to your account, the charges on the receipt you received won't be reflected in your bank statement.

Keep in mind you can always view the purchases made on your account by going to the Payments section of your account settings and clicking View next to your Purchase History. From there, you can view all purchases made from your account.

We also recommend taking extra steps to keep your account secure.

If you still need help with your receipt, please contact us.

Making Facebook Game Purchases for Friends and Family Members

We encourage families to have open and careful discussions about how they use Facebook and make purchases on Facebook. You should never allow your family or friends to access your Facebook account to buy in-game items on Facebook. If you want to use your credit card, PayPal or mobile phone to make a purchase on a family member’s account, be aware that once you have added the card number, PayPal account or mobile phone number, the owner of the Facebook account won't be required to reenter payment information or enter their password before making future purchases. We encourage parents to talk with family members about how they use Facebook games to ensure that they're making purchases responsibly.

However, there are other options if you want to help someone make a Facebook Games purchase. For example, you can buy Facebook Games gift cards in many stores, or you can use the online payment service PayPal to send and receive money that can be used to make purchases on Facebook.

Please note that when you provide payment info to us, you confirm that you're permitted to use that payment source while logged into your account, so never allow anyone except the authorized account holder to access your account.

When you make a payment through Facebook using your credit card, PayPal or mobile phone, the payment information will be stored in your Facebook account to make future payments as convenient as possible.

Please note that once your payment info has been saved for payments, you'll not be required to enter your credit card info or PayPal password while logged into your Facebook account.

You can manage your stored payment methods on Facebook by going to the Payments tab. Click on Payment Methods, and you'll be able to manage your stored credit cards, PayPal accounts and mobile phone numbers.

Please contact your friend or family member to confirm they've made this purchase, and ask them to remove your payment information from their account.

Note: When you provide your payment info to us, you confirm that you're permitted to use that payment source while logged in to your account, so never allow anyone - except the authorized account holder - to access your account.

  4. Click Add a credit card to add a new credit card or click Remove under the credit card to remove it

When you make a purchase on Facebook, we'll email you a receipt. You can also use our extra security features to make your account even more secure.
