Setting a Location for Your Page

To add an address or map to your Page:

  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page
  2. Click Page Info in the left column
  3. Click Address and enter your address
  4. Click to check the box next to Show map, check-ins and star ratings on the Page
  5. Click Save Changes

If you see an error when you add the address for your Page, make sure that you've entered the correct location. If the address is correct and you still see the error, drag the pin on the map to your location.

Note: It may take up to a few hours for your changes to be visible on your Page.

A Page may exist for your business even if you or someone else from your business didn't create it. This can happen for a variety of reasons. For example, when someone checks into a place that doesn't already have a Page, a Page is created to represent the location.

If no one is managing the Page, you can request to claim it. From the Page you want to claim:

  1. Click and select Is this your business?
  2. Click to check the box next to I am an official representative of [Page Name] and click Continue.
  3. Enter information about your relationship with the business and click Continue.
  4. Verify your connection to the business by Email or Documentation:
    • Email: Choose this option if you have an email address associated with your Facebook account that's officially issued to you by your business. Email addresses from generic providers like Yahoo! or Gmail will not be accepted. The email address should correspond to your business's name (ex: jane.doe@acmeproducts.com).
    • Documentation: Choose this option to upload a scanned copy or photo of an official document that shows your business's name and address (ex: phone bill, business license, business tax file or articles of incorporation).
  5. Click Submit.

Please allow up to one week for your request to be reviewed. If your request is accepted, you'll become an admin of the Page and may be able to merge it with any duplicate Pages that you have. The Pages must represent the same thing and have similar names to be eligible for merging. If the Pages have physical locations, make sure the addresses are the same.

A Page needs to have an address and category listed to appear as a nearby place. Results are personalized and ranked by each person's unique connections on Facebook. Places that are more personally connected to people who use Facebook are ranked higher.

If someone wants to find restaurants in a particular city, places their friends have recommended, rated or checked in to will be displayed higher. Strengthening your Page's connections and making sure your basic information is up-to-date will help people find your business.

Your Page's star rating is the average of all public star ratings that your Page has received. Keep in mind that when someone adds a rating, they can select an audience. For example, if they add a star rating and select Friends as the audience, only their friends can see their rating. Only star ratings that are shared publicly are included in your Page's overall rating.

To see the breakdown of your Page's star ratings, go to your Page and hover over the stars.

The reviews that show on your Page may be different depending on who is viewing your Page. The order is based on a number of factors, such as when a review was posted, how much engagement it received, and whether someone visiting your Page is friends with someone who wrote a review.
