Follow

Right now some people might see Follow where Subscribe used to be. Follow works the same way Subscribe does. It's a way to see public updates from the people you're interested in.

Getting Started

When you follow someone, you'll see their posts in your News Feed. You automatically follow people who you're friends with. You can also follow the posts of people who've allowed Everybody to follow them, like journalists, celebrities, political figures and other people you’re interested in but aren't friends with.

Some well-known public figures with large followings are verified by Facebook and have a blue badge next to their names to help you know that they're who they claim to be. Keep in mind that not all authentic profiles are verified and that you can't request to have your profile verified.

If you're interested in keeping up with a Page (ex: businesses, organizations, brands), you can like it.

If you've allowed Everybody to follow you, anyone on Facebook can follow your posts unless you've blocked them. Every time you post, you can choose the audience.

If you've only allowed Friends to follow you, people who aren't your friends won’t see the Follow button at the top of your Timeline and can’t follow you.

Some well-known public figures and Pages with large followings are verified by Facebook as having an authentic identity. You'll see a blue badge next to a verified profile or Page's name. These profiles and Pages may include:

  • Celebrities
  • Journalists
  • Government officials
  • Popular brands and businesses

We verify profiles or Pages to help you be sure that they are who they claim to be. Keep in mind that not all authentic profiles and Pages are verified and that you can't request to have your profile or Page verified. You can report fake accounts that are impersonating you, your business or your brand.

If your profile or Page isn't verified, there are other ways to help your followers or the people that like your Page know that your identity is authentic. For example, you can:

  • Link to your Facebook profile or Page from your official website
  • Complete the About section of your profile or Page to provide more information
